I found some remixes of unreleases stuff from the illegalteenagebikini CD

I remember thinking these mixes were really cool (by Ashkelon Sain) but that the vocals didn't fit anymore. ACTUALLY the music was better than the original. Such is life! The mismatching of the vocals made me uncomfortable with releasing the one track on a for sale thing...but, obviously, I have no problem with putting whatever crap up HERE....

I also had a great DJ Puzzle (Jason Donnelly) mix somewhere of one of the tracks from this record and I hope to find it. I would also put up some very old live shows but I do not have a DAT player (or the inclination to listen to all that shit and master it either!)

I'd like to hear these remixes, I really enjoyed 'I am not Job'. It's always cool to hear a song in a different light. Was the whole album remixed by Ashkelon Sain or just select pieces?

Stephen,

Ash wasn't involved in that record at all that I can recall! Except the remix...I am not sure if anything he did wound up on the record. I have to check the credits....! NOW there are three tracks I did with Ash on the upcoming Thanatos Exterminating Angel CD....the first three recorded in that long, slogging effort!

Ah ok, I see, just checked the credits (in the 'thank yous'). I'm actually fairly new to Ashkelon’s work; his work is phenomenal on Soriah's 'Atlan'. I love that album. Can't wait to hear his contributions to your new record. (I'll be placing my order soon!)

(Not to get off subject...) A little while back I picked up all your records/ep from Projekt, great stuff man. My fave is a tie with 'Endless Night' and 'Blisters'. I usually bring Blisters to work and 'jam' to that while working. Unique stuff. :)

Back when I, for a few years, had my own little label I put out two wonderful records from Ash's band Trance to the Sun. I liked them quite a bit. We did three songs in three days when I worked with him.

Glad you like the stuff. I am fond of Blisters...I like it because it is different from the fist two...which are sort of ramshackle efforts!...but may have better songs? I dunno...I like them all but I am biased!

Well in my opinion what makes Blisters great is that it stands on its own. I think it holds up very well today. But it's just as strong an effort as Endless Night and Gaius just a different charm but all the same timeless. It's still Thanatos, just more industrial! So many artists seem to… I don't know, get too comfortable in their sound/direction and don't really explore other avenues.

Bands like Dead Can Dance, Swans, Type O Negative come to mind as groups that really evolved over their careers never releasing the same record more than once or twice. Of course bands that dared to change direction tend to get flak or alienate their fans. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. But from my observations as a music lover, I think the key to maintaining success while evolving is keeping your core essence intact when you put a fresh coat of paint on. That goes with out saying.

And neato, I didn’t know you had a label at one point.
